Jasper stood outside of Alice’s door, knocking on it three times before stopping. He could hear Alice groan from above, though she made no attempt to move. He knew she was sick today. Charlie had come in around five in the morning or so, and Jasper had hid in the closet again. He had promised not to leave Alice and had kept that promise. But how Charlie had acted this morning and how Alice hadn’t mad any move to get out of bed or anything let Jasper know she was sick. Though he hadn’t wanted her to be sick, she was and that meant he got to spend the entire day with her.
To top it off, his luck was really shining this week because today had been sunny out. He had managed to get to Alice’s door without fear of the sun, having walked quickly in the shadows. Jasper knocked three more times, hearing Alice stumble out of bed this time. “Fine! I’m coming, hold on!” she shouted and Jasper knew that probably only made her feel worse. Of course, he was there to make her feel better. Or at least attempt. He managed to get two more knocks in before the door swung open.
Jasper chuckled as Alice blinked a few times, surprised to see him there. “Yeah?” she asked, half her body covered by the door. “Mind if I come in?” Jasper asked politely, not wanting to enter her house without permission. She coughed into her hand, and Jasper frowned at this. He was still waiting for her to allow him inside, so he could actually explain why he was there. His reason: it was a sunny day outside so everyone had went out camping and hiking, but he had heard she was sick and decided to keep her company.
How he heard that he was still devising that portion. Maybe he would say Charlie had called them this morning, which was the truth. Charlie had called them early in the morning, wanting to speak to Carlisle. Of course, Jasper had answered the phone and when he asked why he needed to speak to him, Charlie had told him Alice was sick. That would work, and it wouldn’t be an entire lie. As long as he didn’t have to lie to much to Alice, Jasper was fine.

“Mind if I come in?” Jasper's angelic voice rang in Alice's ears, and she immediately forgave him for waking her up. "Um, sure," she replied, shaking her head as she turned around and walked sluggishly to the livingroom. She flushed deeply, glad that he couldn't see her expression. Memories from her dream came flooding back to her, and she was glad that it lasted so short a time. She couldn't remember the dreams she'd had before, but she remembered one where she'd sat up in her bed, finding Jasper in her room. They had talked for a bit, and she'd kissed him before losing the dream. Oh, was she glad he couldn't read her mind, or he would know just how much she wanted to do that in real life, with him.
"What are you doing here?" Alice asked, flopping down on the sofa. "Shouldn't you be at school?" It was strange, seeing Jasper outside of school, but she felt that she would get used to it sooner or later. It was Forks, what else was there to do besides roam the streets out of boredom? Still, why was he here? Why did he look so happy to see her? He couldn't be nearly as excited as she was that he was here, especially after last night.
"Oh, are you hungry or anything?" Alice asked, feeling stupid. Of course, she should have offered Jasper some sort of comfort before bombarding him with questions. But she was a Police Chief's daughter; she was born interrogating people.

Jasper chuckled, watching Alice shake her head as she responded. “Um, sure,” she said and Jasper followed her into the living room. “I apologize if I woke you up,” Jasper said, his voice seeming to echo in the silence. He felt bad for waking her up, but he had to come back sooner or later. It was sunny outside and she was sick. Plus, if she would’ve awaken to him with her instead of coming in through the door where would that have lead him? To a million questions from Alice and a million and one from Charlie.
“What are you doing here?” Alice asked, dropping down onto the couch. “Shouldn’t you be at school?” Jasper shrugged, sitting down in a chair. “Whenever it’s a sunny day out—like today—we go camping. But Charlie called this morning to talk to Carlisle because you were sick so I decided to keep you company while you were home all day,” Jasper said with a shrug. Truth be told his family was still at home, relaxing and enjoying their day off. But that didn’t mean Jasper still wasn’t going to visit Alice.
“Oh, are you hungry or anything?” Alice asked and Jasper shook his head. “No, I’m fine. Thank you, though. Are you hungry, though?” he asked in return. If Alice was hungry he would easily find something for her to eat. No need for her to be cooking or anything when she wasn’t feeling well. He would willingly do whatever she asked him to, anything. He knew she still thought of last night as a dream, and he wished he could tell her it wasn’t. If she ever found out he wasn’t human, then maybe, just maybe, he would be able to tell her about last night. But right now, when she thought of him as human, he wouldn’t tell her. Not for the world.

“I apologize if I woke you up,” Jasper said, his voice sincere. Alice shrugged, "If it had been anyone else, I might've slammed the door in their face, so don't worry about it. She was sure to remain nonchalante about it, simply because it was true. Even if it was Angela, who was proving to be a good friends, she would have been in a horrid mood waking up to her. But with Jasper...it was worth sleeping for two days straight if it meant spending five minutes with him. She would do anything to spend more time with him, and with some free time, she could even ask him the questions she'd been building up over the years.
Jasper shrugged at her inquirie, “Whenever it’s a sunny day out—like today—we go camping. But Charlie called this morning to talk to Carlisle because you were sick so I decided to keep you company while you were home all day.” Alice smiled, "Charlie worries to much, but I love him for it. He's a dad; if he didn't worry, then I would be offended. She laughed a bit, looking around the room. Through the doorway to the kitchen, Alice could see a bottle of Moltrin on the counter. She sighed, getting up and walking to retrieve the bottle. She grabbed a glass and began to fix herself a cup of water.
She thought it was wonderful, Jasper coming over just to help her out while she was sick. It truly meant a lot. He seemed to be loosening up a bit, slowly turning into the Jasper from her visions. “No, I’m fine. Thank you, though. Are you hungry, though?” Jasper repeated her earlier question to him, and she tried not to frown. "No, I'm good. I don't think I'd be able to hold it down, anyway." She laughed quietly at the dark humor, tossing the two orange capsules into her mouth and drinking from the glass. That should get rid of her headache for a few hours.

Jasper watched as Alice shrugged at his sincere comment. He truly was upset if he had awaken her--she was a beauty asleep and he hated the thought of waking her. If she wanted to sleep that was fine--sleep was what someone needed when they were sick, wasn't it? "If it had been anyone else, I might've slammed the door in their face, so don't worry about it." Alice said and Jasper chuckled softly at the comment. "Well I'm glad I'm not someone else," Jasper said with a laugh.
"Charlie worries to much, but I love him for it. He's a dad; if he didn't worry, then I would be offended." Alice said with a smile. Jasper smiled in return. "Would you be offended if I didn't worry?" Jasper said with a light laugh. Even if she didn't want him to worry he would. She meant everything to him and making him not worry about her would take a lot of effort. More than anybody could ever imagine was possible.
Alice walked towards the kitchen, a bottle of Moltrin on the counter. Jasper followed her, remembering he had also brought her a bottle, just incase she ran out. He easily grabbed it from his jacket pocket, putting it on the counter then hitting it lightly so it slid next to the other bottle. It tapped the other bottle, stopping right next to it. "Just incase you run out," Jasper said with a wink. That little stunt clearly proved he worried and cared about Alice, a lot.
"No, I'm good. I don't think I'd be able to hold it down, anyway." Alice laughed and Jasper laughed along. "Yeah I'm not sure if I would want to see that," Jasper said with a smile. He easily moved so he was standing next to Alice, his hand placed on the counter next to the Moltrin bottles. He towered above her, a little over a foot. It was something to laugh about, but he wouldn't. No need to ruin Alice's already horrible day.

"Well I'm glad I'm not someone else," Jasper said with a laugh. Alice smirked at him. He couldn't actually be serious? No, he was probably just making her feel better, that's how some guys were. Jasper was probably just being gentlemanly. "Would you be offended if I didn't worry?" He asked lightly, though she felt that he truly meant the question, in all seriousness, so she replied as truthfully as she could. "Probably," she shrugged, "But I guess I would get over it. Or I'd at least try." After all, it wouldn't be the end of the world if Jasper simply stopped caring now, would it? Truthfully, she didn't like thinking about it, but now that he'd mentioned something, she found herself absorbed in these thoughts.
Alice smiled when she saw Jasper fish the bottle of medicine out of his pocket. "Just in case you run out," He assured her, and she couldn't help but laugh. "Thank you," she chuckled, "Now I think I have enough to last me about two years. Charlie stocked up on it this morning; on your dad's orders, no doubt." She saw the worried look in his eyes, and she tried to calm herself down. "I'm sorry, I just find it funny. If you can't laugh at yourself, you can't laugh at anything."
"Yeah I'm not sure if I would want to see that," Jasper smiled, and Alice's heart fluttered frantically as he moved closer to her, towering over her. She felt like Thumbelina - in a good way, though - as Jasper stood nearly a foot taller than her, and she couldn't help but smile at that. It was, in all truth, a rather comical situation. Then, as quick as a blink, she couldn't see Jasper's eyes anymore, but something else. One of her visions. She and Jasper were there, but she could not see the location, could not see if anyone else was there. All she noticed were the two, their faces inching closer and closer, until....
Alice was brought back to the present, back to the precious gift that was his eyes. She grabbed his hand in hers, pulling him with her as she walked through the house, back into the livingroom. She sat down on the couch once more, looking up at him curiously. "How do you do it?" She asked.

Alice merely smirked at Jasper when he said he was glad he wasn't someone else. Was she doubting that he was serious about that? Even so, it could easily pass by as a joke, not that it mattered. "Probably," Alice said with a shrug. Jasper frowned slightly at this. "But I guess I would get over it. Or I'd at least try," she finished and Jasper's frown grew somewhat. He quickly shook it off, replacing it with a sweet smile. "Well don't worry about it then, because I worry about you a lot," Jasper said smiling that sweet smile he had on.
Jasper watched as Alice laughed at the bottle of medicine. "Thank you," she said before chuckling again, "Now I think I have enough to last me about two years. Charlie stocked up on it this morning; on your dad's orders, no doubt," she said, and then appeared to calm herself down. "I'm sorry, I just find it funny. If you can't laugh at yourself, you can't laugh at anything." Jasper chuckled softly at this. "I guess it is rather funny. No doubt Carlisle ordered Charlie to have some medicine in the house. He told me to bring a bottle, just incase," Jasper said, smiling now. Before he had been worried, but now he felt a little more carefree and relaxed again.
Jasper looked Alice in the eyes, smiling. She blinked once, and her eyes seemed to glaze over. Like she was lost in thought. Or lost in a vision. "Alice?" Jasper questioned, a little worried. When she didn't respond, Jasper said her name a little louder, a little more frantic this time, "Alice?!" He was about to say her name again when her eyes seemed to come back to the present. "Alice?" he whispered her name lightly this time, making sure she was okay. That she wasn't still lost in the vision. What had she seen? Jasper blinked once out of surprise when Alice grabbed his hand, towing him to the living room.
"How do you do it?" she asked, sitting down on the couch, and Jasper raised an eyebrow. "Do what?" he asked in return. She hadn't been what someone would call specific when she asked him that question, so Jasper wasn't sure what she was talking about. Though he could really only assume it had to do with changing emotions, he wasn't sure if Alice had another thing in mind or not. He sat down on the couch next to Alice, staring at her with curiousity. What did she want to know?

"Well don't worry about it then, because I worry about you a lot," Jasper said, and for a moment, Alice swore she'd seen him frown at her response. She didn't want to upset him with her responses, but she couldn't lie to him, either. It was who she was.
"I guess it is rather funny. No doubt Carlisle ordered Charlie to have some medicine in the house. He told me to bring a bottle, just incase," Jasper informed her. Doctors, she thought, mentally rolling her eyes. "So your parents don't mind you guys missing school?" She asked, generally curious. She wanted to know more about him, and if it was only something small, like excuses for skipping class, it was worth it, just to get to know him better.
She could hear Jasper clearly as he called out her name, and she responded to each and every one with a quiet, "Shh," not wanting to miss what would happen next in the vision. When it had ended, Jasper asked once more, "Alice?" She merely responded by smiling at him. "Don't worry," she said, "It was a good one this time." When they sat down on the sofa together, Alice was still holding his hand, drawing small circles into it with her fingers. "Do what?" Jasper inquired. She merely stared at him curiously, the truth spilling out of her mouth before she could tell herself to shut up. "Find a way into my life wherever I am?" She did not look up from his hand as she said this. "When I was little and sad, or scared, I would just have a vision, see your face suddenly, and everything would be alright, just because I knew you were still out there. Somewhere." She took a deep, shaky breath, "I was such an impatient little girl. You kept me waiting so long," she laughed, finally looking up at him, unable, it seemed, to keep her eyes from glistening. Yet she felt like the happiest person in the world, and she couldn't describe it, this feeling she had for Jasper. If she were normal, she probably would have gone into shock for feeling this much. "How can you make me feel like I know exactly who you are, yet know nothing about you?"

Jasper chuckled when Alice rolled her eyes. What was she thinking? "So your parents don't mind you guys missing school?" she asked and Jasper shrugged. "We don't tend to skip a lot, but they don't mind when we do. We have our reasons for skipping on occassion, and they're always fine with it," Jasper said with a shrug. "I can only imagine Chief Swan is the exact opposite of that," Jasper said with a sly grin, winking at Alice.
Alice always answered Jasper with a quiet 'Shh' whenever he said her name and it worried him. Of course, she popped out of her vision right when worry crossed his mind. "Don't worry," she said, and Jasper shook his head ever so slightly. How convienient. "It was a good one this time." Alice said and Jasper let himself believe her. He simply nodded, deciding to ask her about it later.
"Find a way into my life wherever I am?" She said, looking at their hands rather than at him. "When I was little and sad, or scared, I would just have a vision, see your face suddenly, and everything would be alright, just because I knew you were still out there. Somewhere." She took a breath and it was rather shaky, something Jasper didn't like. "I was such an impatient little girl. You kept me waiting so long," she looked up at him with glistening eyes, and Jasper immediately moved his free hand to her cheek, prepared to wipe away any tears. "How can you make me feel like I know exactly who you are, yet know nothing about you?"
"Soul mates, perhaps? If you've been seeing me ever since you were little maybe we were meant to be or something. I'm not sure about this but it seems to make the most sense. And if you think you waited a long time, imagine how I feel. I've been waiting for you for what seems like an eternity," Jasper said with a soft smile. "Also, I'm not entirely sure about that last question either. But I feel as if I've known you forever and your visions are probably the reason why you feel as if you know me so well. Why I feel that way, I'm not sure," Jasper replied honestly.

"We don't tend to skip a lot, but they don't mind when we do. We have our reasons for skipping on occassion, and they're always fine with it," He replied with a shrug. "I can only imagine Chief Swan is the exact opposite of that," Jasper said with a sly grin, winking at Alice. She laughed at his constant humor. "Well, it depends on what kind of mood he's in. If it's a game day, he hardly notices anything besides calling his friends to place bets on who wins," she grinned, winking back at him. It was almost like a natural high, being around Jasper, and Alice loved it. She loved him. This small conclusion sealed the deal for her. She did love Jasper. She would scream it from the highest rooftops, the tallest mountains, and be unashamed of it.
"Soul mates, perhaps?" Jasper seemed to guess, "If you've been seeing me ever since you were little maybe we were meant to be or something. I'm not sure about this but it seems to make the most sense. And if you think you waited a long time, imagine how I feel. Alice was cheesing, smiling wide enough to where her cheeks hurt. "I would hug you right now, but I don't want to get you sick," she said, And, no, I think I would have felt the same way about you even if I didn't have my visions. I mean, it's you! How could I not feel the same way?"

Alice laughed at Jasper's joke, and he smiled that. He enjoyed hearing her laugh, it was extremely pleasant to his ears. "Well, it depends on what kind of mood he's in. If it's a game day, he hardly notices anything besides calling his friends to place bets on who wins," Alice said with a grin, winking back at him. Jasper chuckled lightly at this. Alice made him extremely happy and he would willingly tell everyone he loved her. But was he ready to tell that to her?
Alice's smile was huge. He could only assume her cheeks hurt, or would after she was done smiling. He chuckled lightly at this--he would have to comfort her after this was all over. Make sure she felt one hundred and ten percent better. "I would hug you right now, but I don't want to get you sick," Alice said and Jasper chuckled. Jasper easily wrapped his arms around her, brining her into a hug. "My dad's a doctor so I'll live if I do get sick," Jasper said, smiling.
"And, no, I think I would have felt the same way about you even if I didn't have my visions. I mean, it's you! How could I not feel the same way?" Alice said and Jasper shrugged. "I'm not sure about that. Most people tend to just stay away from our family all together. But you willingly came towards us because you saw me in your visions. So I think it's the visions, but that's my opinion, don't forget," Jasper said with a smile.

"My dad's a doctor so I'll live if I do get sick," Jasper smiled, pulling Alice to him for a hug. She laughed, holding him tightly; she didn't want to let him go. "You're cold," she noted, looking into his eyes, "But, then again, everyone's cold to me right now." She placed her head on his shoulder, picking up the remote and turning on the TV. "Sorry, it's kinda quiet in here," she apologized, flipping from channel to channel.
"I'm not sure about that. Most people tend to just stay away from our family all together. But you willingly came towards us because you saw me in your visions. So I think it's the visions, but that's my opinion, don't forget," Jasper shrugged. Alice shook her head, hating to disagree with him, but feeling the need to do so nonetheless. "I think I would have been fascinated by you anyway. You just...stand out," she nodded, deciding that was the word she wanted to use. Jasper would be no different to her if she didn't have her visions, whether he thought that was the reason or not. "But that's my opinion, don't forget," she smiled, stealing his line.
As Alice continued to flip through the stations, she reached a history channel. A man was discussing the Civil War. That slavery was the reason for the War- Alice changed the channel quickly. She didn't like thinking about the War, only because it irritated her. No one seemed to agree on her point of view, but in her opinion, you had to experience the War to really understand how it went, and what, in fact, triggered it. "Sorry if you wanted to watch that," Alice apologized, "It's just a subject that annoys me."

Jasper smiled at the sound of Alice’s laugh. She held him tightly, though he didn’t mind. He wasn’t going to let her go any time soon. “You’re cold,” she said, and Jasper immediately had to think of a response. Luckily, Alice responded before him. “But, then again, everyone’s cold to me right now,” she said, laying her head on his shoulder. Jasper watched as she reached for the TV remote, picking it up and turning the TV on. “Sorry, it’s kinda quiet in here,” she said, flipping through the channels.
“Do you want a blanket or two?” he murmured quietly in her ear. He lightly adjusted both of them so they were leaning back more, pulling her a little closer to him. If she wanted a blanket he would gladly go get her one—the warmest he could find at that. She was still wearing a tank top and pajama pants, compared to him in his khaki pants and long sleeve shirt. He always wore long sleeves, detesting the scars covering his arms. He loathed those little crescent shaped marks that popped out from his porcelain skin.
“It’s fine. I don’t mind,” he added in response to the TV being turned on. It had been a little quiet—too quiet for it to seem normal. Not that it really bothered him. He was enjoying his day with Alice. Though he still wasn’t sure if it was the best, he enjoyed it for now. Maybe in time he would have to change her. Maybe he would have to leave her. No, if anything he would change her. Staying away from her was altogether impossible now, and leaving her wasn’t what he wanted to do. Ever. Changing her may be his only option.
“I think I would have been fascinated by you anyway. You just…stand out,” she said, nodding. Jasper chuckled lightly at this. Stand out definitely was a good term to use when describing him. “But that’s my opinion, don’t forget,” she said, smiling. “Everybody is entitled their opinion, whether we agree or disagree. Though I’m not sure if we’re all entitled to steal another persons line,” Jasper said with a chuckle, kissing the top of her head. Changing her definitely sounded like the best plan now.
Alice reached the history channel, stopping for a moment. That slavery was the reason for the War— [/u] Alice changed the channel before he had time to finish his sentence. Thank God. Jasper was already glaring at the TV with disgust. “Sorry if you wanted to watch that,” Alice said apologizing. “It’s just a subject that annoys me.” Jasper looked back at her, a smile on his face. “It annoys me, too. Slavery isn’t the only reason to the war, and I get sick of hearing that. Very, very sick of it,” Jasper said with a sigh. If she did know he was a vampire he could easily explain what the war was like and everything first hand, but he couldn’t do that. She couldn’t know what he was. Yet. “They need to see the Political and Economic views of the war, not just the Social,” Jasper said, shaking his head slightly. When would some humans learn. “Sorry, it’s a really touchy subject for me,” Jasper said, knowing Alice wouldn’t know exactly how touchy it was for him. Not yet.[/blockquote]

“Do you want a blanket or two?” Jasper's voice in her ear made Alice shiver, though certainly not from the cold. This had to be her favorite sick day ever. Unthinkingly, she put her hand over her mouth and coughed gently. As she was pulled closer to Jasper's cool body, she decided that maybe that would be best, nodding reluctantly. “It’s fine. I don’t mind,” Jasper replied when she'd turned on the television. It was relaxing, much easier than it would have been sleeping and ignoring Charlie's house calls. She barely noticed the shows that she flipped through, how many channels they had skipped simply because it wasn't interesting.
“Everybody is entitled their opinion, whether we agree or disagree. Though I’m not sure if we’re all entitled to steal another persons line,” Jasper kissed the top of her head, chuckling. Alice smiled, "For all we know, you could be stealing lines from me," she pointed out, "Or maybe we can just read each other's minds." She allowed. It was just so easy to speak with Jasper. They could talk about something completely pointless and it feel like a long, deep conversation. He made her laugh, made her smile. Something she hadn't been able to really do in a long time.
Jasper glared at the TV, making Alice feel a bit better about changing it. “It annoys me, too. Slavery isn’t the only reason to the war, and I get sick of hearing that. Very, very sick of it,” Jasper sighed. Alice stared at him, mouth gaping. Wow. “They need to see the Political and Economic views of the war, not just the Social,” Jasper shook his head. "Oh my, God. I completely agree! I had this one teacher, in seventh grade. Her name was Ms. Brown. And she kept going on and on about the 'real' reason why the Civil War happened. I told her she didn't know the first thing about the War. She wasn't there; she had no right to talk about it." She laughed, savoring the memory, "Long story short: I had to go to another school." She sighed, shaking her head, "One of my great-grandfathers served in the War; wrote down everything he experienced. My mom gave it to me about six years ago, and I still keep it. It lets me know about my family history; about how and why I'm here." She was looking down at her hands now. She coughed again.
“Sorry, it’s a really touchy subject for me,” Jasper apologized, and Alice shook her head, "I don't blame you," she said, "People can get so worked up over it. It can be a pretty touchy subject for anyone." She looked at Jasper, studying his expression. Was he more sensitive to the subject than she thought? Maybe she could do something to make him feel better about it. "Would you like to see his journal?" She asked, her expression completely serious. She wanted to make it up to him, and the best way to do that, in her opinion, was to show him the journal. It was her most prized possession, and sharing it with anyone - even Jasper - was a big thing to her. Very big.

Jasper waited for Alice to give him a sign as to whether he should get a blanket or not. She had shivered, though he was sure it was probably from whispering in her ear, not from being cold. She coughed into her hand gently before nodding with reluctance. Jasper nodded in return, standing up to go get a blanket. He walked up the stairs, into her room and gently opened the closet. Best thing about hiding in the closet last night, he knew where she kept the blankets. He grabbed one that looked to be the warmest, caring it gently down the stairs. He made sure to hold the corner that kept it all folded together, so it wouldn’t fall apart and he didn’t have to worry about making the rest of the blanket cold.
“Here,” Jasper said, handing the blanket to Alice. He waited for her to get comfortable and situated before sitting back next to her, outside the blanket. It was supposed to keep her warm, so what good would it do if he was also wrapped in it? None at all. He let Alice flip through the channels, not really caring what they watched. He was spending his day with her and that’s all that mattered—not was on TV. “For all we know, you could be stealing lines from me,” Alice said with a smile. “Or maybe we can just read each other’s minds,” she added and Jasper chuckled. “Or maybe you’re the only person I’ll allow to say something I said and get away with it,” Jasper said with a chuckle. Besides, he had done that last night with the word ‘baby’, so he owed her a chance to say one of his lines.
Jasper chuckled when he noticed Alice staring at him, her mouth gaping. “Oh my, God. I completely agree! I had this one teacher, in seventh grade. Her name was Ms. Brown. And she kept going on and on about the ‘real’ reason why the Civil War happened. I told her she didn’t know the first thing about the War. She wasn’t there; she had no right to talk about it,” Alice laughed lightly, allowing Jasper to laugh in return. Usually he didn’t laugh about the Civil War, it was such a touchy subject to him, but with Alice it was something to laugh about. “Long story short: I had to go to another school,” she let out a sigh, shaking her head. “One of my great-grandfathers served in the War; wrote down everything he experienced. My mom gave it to me about six years ago, and I still keep it. It lets me know about my family history; about how and why I’m here,” she said, looking down at her hands.
“We disagree one on thing, agree on another,” Jasper mused with a chuckle. “I had a relative that did the same thing,”—not entirely true because though he did have everything written down, it had been him in the War, not a relative—“anyways every time we talk about it in an Social Studies class I get annoyed because they all slavery is the major reason but it’s not. They fought over states rights, and about how each region earned their money. North was industrial, South was agricultural. Then there was Lincoln’s election in 1860 and his re-election in 1864,” Jasper paused for a moment, thinking about Abraham Lincoln. True when the war had first started and everything he had hated Lincoln, hated him as much as he hated the scars that now covered his arms. But now, over a hundred years later, Jasper had some respect for Lincoln. He really had made some great choices in the war and hadn’t been selfish at all. He had wanted them to all be one united country, like the Founding Fathers wanted. That was why Lincoln was now among Jasper’s favorite presidents, and that was saying a lot.
“Sorry. Anyways, I get extremely annoyed when we talk about it because the teachers never think to mention the other factors and that’s poor history knowledge. We have to know all the details to learn from our mistakes, preventing it from happening again. You never know when the South may seceed again, and if they do it wouldn’t be about slavery,” Jasper said with a shrug. “Sorry, I feel very strongly about my feelings for this topic,” Jasper said, flashing a grin. It was hard for him not to feel so harshly about it, he had been there for the battles. Nobody could ever tell the story like he could. The last Civil War veteran died years ago, but that’s what the humans believed. But here he was, still living. Only, as a vampire.
“I don’t blame you. People can get so worked up over it. It can be a pretty subject for anyone,” Alice said and Jasper nodded. “You have no idea. This is the only war I hate talking about because I feel so strongly about it,” Jasper said with a reassuring grin. He was extremely sensitive when it came to this subject, but that was okay. “Would you like to see his journal?” Alice asked, serious. Jasper knew it was probably very big if she was asking him to see the journal. “Depends. Did he fight for the North, or the South?” Jasper asked. He didn’t really care for reading about a journal from a Northerners view, they mainly blamed slavery. However he always enjoyed reading a journal from a Southerner, because he can easily relate to them. Very easily.
