Keeping even the slightest bit of hold on his composure was becoming harder and harder for Jasper. He was already upset as is, and each little word wasn't helping him much. It wasn't what Alice said--now anyways--it was what he was saying. How he was basically telling her he loved her with his entire life, and knowing she probably couldn't ever love him for what he'd done. That just seemed impossible, but understandable. And reasonable.
"Jasper...I love you, too. With all my heart. I know I haven't been here long, but I've loved you for years. Knowing you were out there helped me through the roughest times in my life." Alice said when he paused for a second time. He offerred Alice a smile when she walked towards him again, wrapping her arms around his neck. He bent down slightly, so it wouldn't be to much of a stretch for her.
So this was love. Doing whatever it takes to keep the person of your wildest dreams. Acting like an idiot and not caring in any way as long as they're happy. Truth be told, Jasper liked it. He enjoyed being in love. He didn't care if Alice made a fool of herself in front of him. As long as she was with him he was fine. He would be the biggest idiot in the world if it meant keeping Alice happy.
"And I love you, Jasper Hale," Alice declared, having to push herself onto her tip toes to kiss him. He bent down a little bit more, his proud arms circling her waist. A familiar scent drifted by them, and Jasper smiled slightly when he recognized the scent to be Mike's. Poor Newton. Not that he really cared. He had Alice and that was all he really cared about.
"Look," Alice said and Jasper listened intently. She had his full attention, nothing changing that. "I'm not going to act like I understand why you're lying to me, because I don't. But I will act like I accept it. For now," she said, looking him dead in the eyes. "I don't like being lied to, and I especially don't like being lied to by you, so don't expect me to be chipper every time I see you. I love you, but that doesn't mean I can't be agitated with you."
A smirk danced across Alice's face, and Jasper chuckled softly to himself. "All you need to understand is that I'm lying about this to you for your protection. In time, hopefully you'll learn to accept it," he said with a shrug. If she actually did accept the fact that he was doing everything to protect her that was fine. She just needed to understand that it was for her protection, and that's all that really mattered. To him, at least.
"Alice, I don't want to lie to you. Please, understand that. I'm only doing it to protect you. I understand if you're not chipper every time I see you. As for being agitated with me, I understand that too. Just don't expect me to be agitated in return," Jasper said with a smirk of his own. That's fine. It was good.

Getting butterflies in your stomach every time you see that certain someone. Wanting to make them happy even when you felt like the world was ending for you. Kissing in the rain, not caring whether you got sick or not. Asking your father's opinion of him, though you don't really care what he has to say about it anyway, simply because nothing can stop you from being with him. Unable to keep yourself from smiling every time you saw their face. That was love, and Alice was a part of it. She would scream it from the rooftops if she could. She loved Jasper Hale, and there was nothing anyone could do about it.
Jasper's arms encircled Alice's waist, and she smiled into the kiss. She heard footsteps approaching them, and as she pulled away to catch her breath, she saw Mike Newton. She waved at him briefly before turning back to Jasper. Mike might be her little buddy, but Jasper was the icing on the cake. Nothing could distract her at this moment.
Jasper chuckled softly to himself. "All you need to understand is that I'm lying about this to you for your protection. In time, hopefully you'll learn to accept it," he shrugged. Alice rolled her eyes, but said nothing to this comment. She didn't want to start another argument with him. "Come over later? You can bring over some homework and we can work on it together." She suggested. She truly wasn't planning on doing homework with Jasper, but since her father would more than likely be there, it would be best to have an alibi.
"Alice, I don't want to lie to you. Please, understand that. I'm only doing it to protect you. I understand if you're not chipper every time I see you. As for being agitated with me, I understand that too. Just don't expect me to be agitated in return," Jasper said with a smirk of his own. She smiled at him, "Good. Because I've been known to react negatively when someone's angry with me." She laughed, "And I understand. Protection. Got it," she tapped the side of her head with her forefinger, indicating that she had his statement imbedded to her brain. She leaned foward, tapping Jasper lightly on his nose, "I-"
But she was interrupted by a deep cough behind her, and she turned around quickly to see Charlie. "Ch-Dad," she smiled at him, "Um, I thought you were waiting by the car?" He replied by saying that she was taking a bit too long, shooting a narrow-eyed glance in Jasper's direction. He was clearly not happy with the result of what should have been an argument. "I'll be down in a minute, Dad. Oh," she added, just before Charlie muttered a quick good-bye and left, "Do you think Jazz can come over? Help me with the work I missed today?"
He had replied with a none-to-happy "Okay. Only until 9," and left quickly. Alice turned back towards Jasper, pushing some hair out of her eyes. "Dads," she laughed. Maybe she shouldn't have asked Charlie so soon. What if Jasper had other plans?

Jasper chuckled at Alice's brief look and wave towards Mike Newton. He had probably been expecting them to be angry at each other, not kissing. Of course, sometimes it was hard to stay mad at each other. Then again, Jasper was fully aware that Alice was still slightly mad at him. In time that would change again. All in due time.
Jasper chuckled as Alice rolled her eyes at his statement, but nade no comment. "Come over later? You can bring over some homework and we can work on it together." she suggested and Jasper chuckled slowly. "I think it would be me helping you, am I not correct? You are a junior and I am a senior, which means I took those same classes you're taking this year, last. I'm sure I'll be able to come over. Anything to get out of the rampage I'll be recieving from Rose," Jasper muttered the last part, chuckling softly.
"Good. Because I've been known to react negatively when someone's angry with me." Alice laughed and Jasper smiled along with her. "And I understand. Protection. Got it," she said and Jasper chuckled. She tapped the side of her head, letting him know she had it embedded in her brain. She then tapped his nose, only being able to manage, "I-".
There was a deep cough from behind her and Jasper immediately looked up to see Chief Swan. "Ch-Dad," Alice said, almost having called him Charlie. "Um, I thought you were waiting by the car?" Charlie shot a glare at Jasper and said she was taking a bit to long. "I'm sorry for keeping her, Chief Swan," Jasper said politely, bowing his head like a gentleman. He didn't extend his hand to shake Chief Swan's, knowing it probably wouldn't be best. He clearly had been expecting them to be fighting, not smiling and what not.
"I'll be down in a minute, Dad. Oh," She just barely got that out as Charlie muttered a good-bye and turned to leave. "Do you think Jazz can come over? Help me with the work I missed today?" Charlie's response had been a not to thrilled 'Okay. Only until 9' but it was still good. Jasper smiled and nodded. "Dads," Alice laughed, pushing some hair out of her eyes.
Jasper chuckled lowly, giving Alice another quick kiss. "Don't worry, I'll come over. You sure you still don't want me to drive you home?" Jasper offerred again. It would give them more time to talk and discuss the matter at hands. Of course, if Alice wanted to ride home with Charlie, Jasper saw no problem in that. It was her decision, and he would gladly let her choose.

Alice frowned, "Actually, I'm and advanced student," she informed him, "And why should Rosalie yell at you? She's not your mother," she added. She knew she shouldn't talk that way about Rosalie, but it was too late to say that the girl was nice. Hell, Alice wouldn't call her nice even if she had a chance to. The woman was rude, tempermental, and bitter. She was nowhere near nice.
"I'm sorry for keeping her, Chief Swan," Jasper said politely, bowing his head. He did not bother shaking her father's hand. Smart man. Jasper smiled and nodded when Charlie left, chuckling lowly when she laughed. He kissed Alice once more, and she gave a quiet groan of protest when he pulled away. "Don't worry, I'll come over. You sure you still don't want me to drive you home?" Jasper offerred again.
Alice smiled at him. He was sweet, maybe she should just tell Charlie-- No. No, she wasn't going to agitate Charlie any further. Besides, her father was a bit too overprotective. He was what Southern girls would call a Shotgun Daddy. He didn't really want Jasper to come over tonight, and he certainly wouldn't like the idea of her riding home with a boy a year older than her. Member of the Cullen family or not.
"Um," she told Jasper uncomfortably, "I need to ride home with my dad. I don't want him to worry," she bit her lower lip, her head turning in the direction which Charlie had left. "I'm sorry," she apologized, "How about you come over around six? That'll give us time to study and visit?" She suggested. She didn't want to leave his side, but she had her father to think about. That's where the complications came in. Plus, she needed to call her mother, assure her that Charlie had simply overreacted.

Jasper raised an eyebrow when Alice frowned. She had nothing to frown about. "Actually, I'm and advanced student," Alice informed him and Jasper chuckled softly. He was, and had been, as well. He certainly had the brains to be advanced. "And why should Rosalie yell at you? She's not your mother," she added and Jasper immediately frowned.
"I do believe I'm in advanced as well, and I have been since I was a kid. So it is still me helping you," Jasper said, smiling softly. "As for Rosalie, well she can be difficult. Believe it or not, she does care for some people, but mainly only our family. She just tends to try and do what's best for all of us when she isn't being selfish," Jasper said, looking down slightly.
Jasper laughed softly when Alice quietly made a groan of protest when he pulled away. Of course, he had to. There was still a few things that needed to be talked about, and their time was limited. Very, very limited. Charlie had already interrupted them once, no need to have him interrupt again. It wasn't exactly proper to keep the guy waiting. Though he wasn't a lady, he was Alice's father.
"Um," Alice began uncomfortably. Jasper waited patiently, letting her talk. "I need to ride home with my dad. I don't want him to worry," she bit her lip, looking in the way Charlie had left them. "I'm sorry," Alice apologized. "How about you come over around six? That'll give us time to study and visit?"
"Alice, don't worry about it. It'll be best for you to talk to Charlie on the car ride and the left over time till I get there," He said, brushing a strand of hair out of her face. "Also, you have no reason to apologize. You did nothing wrong. And you riding home with Charlie is perfectly fine by me," Jasper said, smiling softly.
"Six sounds good," Jasper said with a smile. "I may not be able to drive you home, but can I at least walk you to your dads car?" Jasper offered with a smile. "Or to the exit?" he added, not sure where or if Alice wanted him to walk her to.

Great. When would she ever just shut up. She nodded at him, "Okay, Einstein." She laughed, ignoring the comment about Rosalie. She'd rather not talk about her, seeing as how Rosalie seemed to be a trigger for disagreements.
"Alice, don't worry about it. It'll be best for you to talk to Charlie on the car ride and the left over time till I get there," He said, brushing a strand of hair out of her face. Alice smiled. "Also, you have no reason to apologize. You did nothing wrong. And you riding home with Charlie is perfectly fine by me," Jasper smiled softly. Alice restrained herself from kissing him again. He was too sweet. "Thanks for understanding," she smiled, placing her hand on his cold cheek. Maybe he should see Dr. Cullen for that. It was a bit unusual.

"Or to the exit?" he added, appearing unsure as to whether he should or not. Alice smiled at him. "I think Charlie could deal with me being escorted to the car by a gentleman," she agreed, holding her arm out to him expectantly, a grin on her face. Just like in the movies.

All Alice did was nod in response. Maybe he should just stop mentioning Rosalie all together. Alice saw the the evil, cruel side of Rosalie and would probably never see her... good side. It wasn't exactly sweet and caring, but it was better than how she normally acted at public places like school. That was just mainly self defense for Rosalie, though everyone took it for rudeness and what not.
"Okay, Einstein." Alice said laughing. Jasper laughed along with her, smiling. It was just too easy to smile around Alice. "I'd attempt to dress like him, but I think my hair is too long for his mad look," Jasper said with a wink, running a hand through his hair. "Thanks for understanding," Alice said, placing a hand on his cheek. He turned to kiss it--something he had also done when Alice was sick--before turning to look back at her. "Anything for you," he murmured, smiling.
"I think Charlie could deal with me being escorted to the car by a gentleman," Alice said, a grin on her face as she held her hand out. Jasper bowed slightly, putting his hand over his stomach for the bow since he didn't have a hat to tip. "Ma'am," he said, taking her hand. He chuckled softly as he led her towards the elevator, gently pressing the button and awaiting the elevator's arrival.
The doors beeped when they opened, letting them know it was there. Jasper waited till everyone was off, noticing it was a patient on a stretcher that they were leading off. Carlisle exited slower, stopping next to Jasper. "Son. Miss Swan," Carlisle said, looking at each one when he addressed them. "Carlisle," Jasper said in return, patting Carlisle's shoulder as he led Alice onto the elevator. "I'll come back to your office after I take Alice to her car," Jasper informed Carlisle before the doors shut.
"What were you going to say earlier before Charlie interrupted?" Jasper asked once they stepped in the elevator that only contained the two of them. He looked down at Alice, curious. She had his full attention and they would not exit the elevator until he found out what she had mean to say.

"I'd attempt to dress like him, but I think my hair is too long for his mad look," Jasper said with a wink, running a hand through his hair. Alice smiled, "I'm glad," she laughed, "I don't think you could pull off the mad scientist look." On the contrary, she felt Jasper could pull off any look. He was simply that beautiful. Jasper kissed her palm - something she remembered him doing just a few days ago. "Anything for you," he murmured, smiling. As if on cue, she smiled back. There was no way she could stay mad at him. Absolutely no way.
Jasper bowed slightly, putting his hand over his stomach for the bow since he didn't have a hat to tip. "Ma'am," he said, taking her hand. He chuckled softly as he led her towards the elevator, gently pressing the button and awaiting the elevator's arrival. Alice laughed softly, unable to stop herself from pirouetting. Dancing was the only other thing she could do to express her happiness, and it might have been a short lapse in self-control at the moment, but she didn't care. She skipped the rest of the way to the elevator with Jasper.
The doors beeped when they opened, and Alice waited patiently for the people in the elevator to exit. The man who had checked on her before, Dr. Cullen, exited slowly, stopping just beside Jasper. "Son. Miss Swan," he said, looking at both of them as he addressed them. Jasper escourted Alice onto the elevator, patting Dr. Cullen's shoulder in return. "Carlisle," he said, just before the doors shut, "I'll come back to your office after I take Alice to her car." Alice frowned slightly. What was that about?
"What were you going to say earlier before Charlie interrupted?" Jasper asked once they stepped in the elevator. He looked down at Alice, curious. Alice blushed and looked down. She knew he would persist on this subject, but she didn't want to ask him any longer. "Nothing," she shook her head, not looking at him. She pretended to study the top right corner of the elevator really hard until the ride was over. Maybe that would work?

Jasper smiled as Alice smiled to his Einstein joke. Jasper respected the guy--what was there not to respect? Even though he had a mad look about him, he was an extraordinary man that deserved respect. He earned it fair and square. Besides, who didn't respect a genius? An idiot, that was who. "I'm glad," Alice said, laughing. [/i]"I don't think you could pull off the mad scientist look."[/i] Jasper smiled at this. "I don't know about that. I think I could," he said with a smile. "Of course, I'd probably be dead before that happened. Save myself embarrassment," he added in a lower voice, chuckling to himself. Alice laughed softly, unable to stop herself from pirouetting. She easily skipped the rest of the way to the elevator with him. He chuckled, pulling her slightly closer to him. "Enjoying your dancing moment?" he said with a smirk on his face. He twirled her around gently, not having to raise his arm to high over her head. He knew for a fact that Alice enjoyed dancing and would easily dance if she wanted to. Anything for Alice. His Alice. Jasper raised an eyebrow at Alice's frown. "What's the matter?" he asked, slightly confused. It had been a short, brief meeting with Carlisle and Jasper was sure Carlisle had checked Alice in the emergency room. He had all but demanded that the paramedics have Carlisle check Alice over, and Charlie seemed to agree because he had kept saying she needed to see Dr. Cullen. It was rather funny, because every time Jasper had said she needed to see Carlisle--he had been riding in the front of the ambulance with Alice--Charlie would immediately pipe up saying he needed to see Dr. Cullen. Carlisle and Dr. Cullen were the same person. "Nothing," Alice said, studying the corner of the elevator with interest. Jasper chuckled, but shrugged it off. "If you say so," he said, deciding to change the subject. "Charlie doesn't approve of me?" Jasper ended it in the form of a question, not entirely sure if Charlie approved of him or not. None of the Cullen's or Hale's had ever gotten into trouble--whether it was with the law or school--but for some reason the glare he had gotten from Charlie earlier told him he was not approved of. Why, he wasn't sure.[/blockquote] Sorry for taking so long!

"I don't know about that. I think I could," he said with a smile. "Of course, I'd probably be dead before that happened. Save myself embarrassment," he added in a lower voice, chuckling to himself. Alice laughed along with him. He had such a wonderful sense of humor, she noticed. Yet he clearly struck her as a sincere person, one who respected all those who truly deserved it. Lord knew he certainly respected his foster parents. He spoke of them with such respect.
Jasper chuckled, pulling her slightly closer to him. "Enjoying your dancing moment?" he smirked. He twirled her around gently, not having to raise his arm to high over her head. She smiled, bowing low, as if she were Elizabeth Bennett in Pride and Prejudice, "Why, of course, kind sir." She replied, her eyes glinting mischeviously at Jasper.
Jasper raised an eyebrow at Alice's frown. "What's the matter?" he asked. Alice looked back to him, jerked back from her observations. "Hmm? Oh," Alice shook her head, "Nothing. Just thinking." Then her mouth turned up in a small smile. "You love him a lot, don't you?" Alice asked, observing Jasper's reaction carefully. Merely from the way he spoke to Dr. Cullen, talked about him, she could tell that. It was an idiotic thing to ask, but she still didn't regret asking. As long as he kept speaking, she would listen.
"If you say so," Alice supressed her sigh of relief. Good. He wasn't going to push her on the subject. "Charlie doesn't approve of me?" Jasper asked, and Alice frowned. "Charlie's a dad. That's how he is," she replied, looking away from him, at the ground. "And I may not have told him about us," she added quickly under her breath.

Jasper smiled as Alice laughed along with him. At least she got his sense of humor. Though his sense of humor could be rather cruel at points, he tried to keep it light and laughable. It was just easier to laugh at when it was lighter. The harsher it was, the more unfunny it became. Lord knew Jasper could never live with the guilt of such a harsh joke. Especially when he respected with great intensity. Lord knew he would never say a cruel joke about Esme or Carlisle. They had left their arms wide open for him when he needed it most, though he had felt like he hadn’t deserved it. He was still sure he didn’t.
Alice bowed low after he spun her and Jasper chuckled at this. “Why, of course, kind sir,” Alice said with a devilish look in her eyes. Jasper chuckled lowly at this, bowing in return. “I’m glad, ma’am,” he said with a smirk. If she hadn’t been enjoying it—though knowing Alice she definitely had—he would have to figure out some way for her to enjoy it. Dancing in the rain? That was a task that was nowhere near hard to accomplish.
“Hmm? Oh. Nothing. Just thinking. You love him a lot, don’t you?” Alice said and Jasper let a smile grace his lips. Lord knew he loved Carlisle and Esme to death as his parents. Again, they had given him so much support and love when he probably didn’t deserve it. It was actually a miracle his entire family had taken such a quick liking to him. Never before would he have imagined he deserved as much love and care that they gave him. Of course, he gave them all a ton of love and care in return. But that was Jasper.
“A ton. He’s a great guy. It’s unbelievable just how much compassion he has. It’s actually scary when you really sit down and think about all his compassion. Funny, too,” Jasper said with a smile. He hoped he hadn’t said anything wrong. Only Alice really knew how her dad acted, and he may not have been the same way as Carlisle. Probably not. No, definitely not. Carlisle was one of those ‘one in a million’ people.
“Charlie’s a dad. That’s how he is,” Alice said, not looking at him. Jasper let out a sigh, deciding to look at the wall of the elevator. “And I may not have told him about us,” she added under her breath. “Now he knows. He definitely saw us, and probably hadn’t wanted to,” Jasper said, moving to lean against the side of the elevator. “I’m sorry if you get in trouble for it, too,” Jasper added, slightly ashamed of himself. If Charlie didn’t know, then he probably should’ve paid a little more attention.
Apology excepted. We all have those days.

Jasper chuckled as Alice bowed. He gladly returned the bow gracefully. “I’m glad, ma’am,” he smirked. She smiled slowly at him, measuring his build. "Can you dance?" She asked, generally curious. She pictured herself dancing with him, but the scene kept changing. From a bright, sunny day, to a pleasant, starry night. She finally settled on the most realistic one. Dancing in the rain wasn't too bad, was it?
“A ton. He’s a great guy. It’s unbelievable just how much compassion he has. It’s actually scary when you really sit down and think about all his compassion. Funny, too,” Jasper smiled. Alice stared at him with an odd mixture of emotions. Respect, wonder, appreciation. And many more, to boot. "He sounds wonderful," she agreed, "My dad has his moments, too, once in a blue moon," she laughed, "He knows exactly when I need someone to talk to, knows when to shut up... He's there to make me laugh when I'm down, and he'd clock anyone he thought would hurt me," she smiled, now slightly embarrassed. "I'm sorry," she apologized, "I keep going on and on, don't I?"
Jasper let out a sigh, deciding to look at the wall of the elevator. She didn't want him to feel bad. She wanted to explain to him the reasons behind Charlie's reactions, but he spoke before she got the chance. “Now he knows. He definitely saw us, and probably hadn’t wanted to,” Jasper said, moving to lean against the side of the elevator. “I’m sorry if you get in trouble for it, too,” Jasper added. Alice sighed, walking over to his side of the elevator, wrapping her arms around his waist.
She hugged him gently. "Yeah, he knows. But Charlie's old-fashioned - like 1850s old-fashioned - so he's protective," she tried to explain. "He just goes overboard sometimes. I remember when I was twelve. I was up here for the summer to visit, and this one boy always wanted to hang out with me." She laughed now, remembering, "Needless to say, the boy left me alone after that. He'll get used to it, after he meets you. And interrogates you a bit," she added, staring into his eyes, a smile on her lips to show him that she was joking. "Besides, the most that'll happen is he hounds me about the age difference, which is only, what, a year? It'll be a little uncomfortable at first, but he'll get over it."
Sweet. I'm forgiven. =]

Jasper watched Alice smile slowly at him, looking at him in a different way. Measuring his build? Why would she be doing that? “Can you dance?” she asked, and Jasper let out a chuckle. He let his mind wander from place to place of him and Alice dancing, enjoying the dancing in the rain the most. It was easy, and enjoyable to say the least. Getting soaked to the bone and still laughing. Nice. “Insane as it is, yes, I can dance,” Jasper said with a smile.
Alice’s emotions were a nice mixture after he talked about Carlisle. Respect, wonder, appreciation were all there, along with more. “He sounds wonderful,” Alice agreed and Jasper nodded along. Carlisle was as wonderful as he sounded, though that much better in person. “My dad has his moments, too, once in a blue moon,” Alice said, laughing. Jasper smiled along, intrigued. “He knows when I need someone to talk to, knows when to shut up… He’s there to make me laugh when I’m down, and he’d clock anyone he thought would hurt me,” Alice said, smiling with a little bit of embarrassment. “I’m sorry. I keep going on and on, don’t I?”
Jasper shook his head in response. “No, it’s fine. Its interesting to hear how somebody’s parents act then compare it to your own parents. Let’s you see the world from a different perspective,” Jasper said with a shrug. “Not to mention that when you’re a guy like me, it let’s you know about all the different types of fathers so you can try and be the best of them all,” he added with a smile. Though he would never have kids, that made him sound a little more normal, didn’t it?
Jasper wrapped his arms around Alice when she wrapped her arms around his waist. She hugged him gently, and he pulled her slightly closer to him in return. “Yeah, he knows. But Charlie’s old-fashioned – like 1850’s old-fashioned – so he’s protective,” Alice attempted to explain and Jasper was already chuckling lightly. Him and Charlie certainly had a lot in common. “Well at least we have a few things in common. Old-fashioned and protective of you,” Jasper said with a smile. “It’s fine, though. Dad’s are protective of their daughters, it’s life,” Jasper said with a smile.
“He just goes overboard sometimes. I remember when I was twelve. I was up here for the summer to visit, and this one boy always wanted to hang out with me.” Alice laughed, remembering something. “Needless to say, the boy left me alone after that. He'll get used to it, after he meets you. And interrogates you a bit,” Alice smiled and Jasper knew she was joking. “ I’m sure I won’t be leaving you alone after meeting him, though. As for interrogation, well I’ll manage. I don’t break easily,” Jasper flashed a grin downwards at Alice. If Charlie interrogated him Charlie interrogated him. He would manage. “ Besides, the most that'll happen is he hounds me about the age difference, which is only, what, a year? It'll be a little uncomfortable at first, but he'll get over it.” Jasper shrugged at this. “Yeah, only a year. Too bad.”

Jasper chuckled, “Insane as it is, yes, I can dance,” he smiled. She glowed back at him. Good. Hopefully he was a wonderful dancer; she would hate to have to show off in front of him. Alice laughed quietly at the thought. Of course Jasper would be a wonderful dancer. How could he not be? "Well, that's good," Alice told him, "Because now I won't have to teach you." Most guys she danced with were horrid at it. She'd have to tell them which way to step, when to bow, when to dip their partner. It was exhausting, and though she would enjoy teaching Jasper how to dance more than anyone else, she simply would not allow herself to do it. It would be too much of a hassle.
Jasper nodded along, smiling when she said certain things as he did so. Jasper shook his head in a final response. “No, it’s fine. Its interesting to hear how somebody’s parents act then compare it to your own parents. Let’s you see the world from a different perspective,” Jasper shrugged. “Not to mention that when you’re a guy like me, it let’s you know about all the different types of fathers so you can try and be the best of them all,” he added with a smile. Alice could not help but smile back. So he thought about kids? He certainly was a sweet man, someone who was beautiful inside and out, had a head on his shoulders, and knew exactly what he was. How could Charlie ever refuse Alice's happiness with him?
"That's good," she nodded, "Most guys don't bother to think about that kind of thing at all now-a-days. All they think about is..." she trailed off, suddenly uncomfortable. She'd never really had this conversation with a guy, let alone a guy like Jasper. He probably knew all about what guys wanted. After all, he was a boy. She shook her head, ridding herself of the thought. Oh, well, she thought, If he finds out I'm not one of those girls, maybe he'll accept it. Maybe.
While Alice attempted to explain about her father, Jasper chuckled lightly. “Well at least we have a few things in common. Old-fashioned and protective of you,” Jasper smiled. “It’s fine, though. Dad’s are protective of their daughters, it’s life.” Alice laughed, "Yeah, but there's a difference," she pointed out, "He's fatherly-protective, and you're boyfriend-protective. You're not the one cleaning a shot-gun every time I come home with a boy, friend or not." Alice didn't know how to tell Jasper another one of her truths: She never really dated. Like, never. Didn't even bring someone home to meet her mother, let alone tell her she was going to the movies with that someone. She'd never felt the urges around other boys that she did with Jasper, and she was relatively glad about that. It proved that she belonged with him, vision or no vision.
“I’m sure I won’t be leaving you alone after meeting him, though. As for interrogation, well I’ll manage. I don’t break easily,” Jasper flashed a grin downwards at Alice. She beamed back at him, "Good. Oh," she added, "Just so you know, he likes to clean his gun before meeting any guy I want to introduce him to. Just ask Mike Newton about grade seven," she laughed, "So be ready."
Jasper shrugged. “Yeah, only a year. Too bad.” She frowned when the elevator door opened. She pulled away from Jasper's embrace, but not before taking his hand into hers. She loved the feel of his cool hand against hers, the electrical tingling sensation that shot up her arm when she did so. She could see her father's police car parked in front of the entrance, and she sighed, putting on the best smile she could manage. She couldn't bare the thought of being away from Jasper, if only for a few hours. She extracted her hand from Jasper's as soon as they reached the door; she didn't want her father to see that just yet. You've gotta put a frog in cold water before you boil it.

Alice glowed at his response. She was obviously glad he could dance. Even though he did hate admitting it, he was a good dancer, and that was scary. Not many guys were good dancers. Carlisle was probably a good dancer, Emmett the same. Though with Emmett you couldn't be sure. He was a brawny guy, but you never knew. Edward could dance--Bella hated dancing and claimed she couldn't but Edward always managed to get her to dance. Jasper could, even though he hated admitting it.
"Well, that's good," Alice said. "Because now I won't have to teach you." Jasper chuckled at this. "I'm not sure about that. I don't dance too frequently, so I may need a refresh on how to," Jasper said with a chuckle. He didn't really need a refresh on how to dance, but it would still be fun. Him and Alice walking slowly through the steps of a dance sounded good.
"That's good," Alice said, nodding. "Most guys don't bother to think about that kind of thing at all now-a-days. All they think about is..." Alice stopped, suddenly uncomfortable. Jasper shook his head in slight pity. He tended to stay away from thoughts like that. Maybe one day when he had a mate he would think about it more frequently, but not till that day came. He heard and felt the emotions enough as is. "I tend to not think about that. Guys who only have that on their mind are players to say the least, and I tend to be committed to a relationship, not use it as if it were nothing," Jasper said quietly. Just from knowing Alice was uncomfortable Jasper was sure she wasn't that kind of girl. That was good, because that meant she was smart.
"Yeah, but there's a difference," Alice pointed out. "He's fatherly-protective, and you're boyfriend-protective. You're not the one cleaning a shot-gun every time I come home with a boy, friend or not." Jasper chuckled at this. "Shot-guns don't scare me. We go hunting and hiking a lot," Jasper said, though he didn't mention it was with their bare hands, not with a gun. But hunting usually involved guns. Besides, he certainly knew how to fire a gun thanks to the Civil War.
"Good. Oh," Alice added and Jasper waited patiently. "Just so you know, he likes to clean his gun before meeting any guy I want to introduce him to. Just ask Mike Newton about grade seven," Alice laughed at the memory. "So be ready." Jasper smiled, fully ready. "Not a problem. I'll ask Newton in a few days. I think he's still traumatized about earlier," Jasper chuckled softly. Newton would be a little uneasy for days, not that he really cared. Newton was just a nuisance to him.
Jasper sighed when the elevator opened. Alice pulled away from the embrace, but grabbed his hand. He could see the police cruiser parked just outside the doors. Alice put on a smile that she could manage--fake as it was--before releasing his hand. He didn't really understand the point in that. Chief Swan had already seen them and knew they were together, but this was probably for the best. Jasper put his hands in his pockets, ready to walk Alice to the car. It wasn't to far, but he didn't really care. "Relax," Jasper said after a moment, hoping she would calm down somewhat. It wasn't like she was going in the back of the cruiser.
