Alice was easy to love, easy to care for. Even if she was a danger magnet. One mere kiss from her was spectacular to say the least. Everything about her, no matter how small, was easy to love. It was Alice, wasn't it? "Good. And I'll be sure to do the same in return," Alice said, and Jasper smiled again. That sounded nice, hearing Alice tell him she loved him more. Of course, she said it enough as was. But it was nice to hear it all the same.
"Why does Rosalie hate me?" Alice asked and Jasper sighed softly. Truth be told, this was among his least favorite questions. He didn't want to have to answer something like this. It was just that hard to answer. "I'm not sure what to say about it Alice. She just... it's silly really," Jasper murmured quietly, adjusting so he could look at Alice just a tad bit more. "Her reason is selfish to say the least. And self explanatory. Very out in the open. I'm surprised you didn't figure it out," Jasper said quietly.
Jasper was rather embarrassed himself that he hadn't figured out what Alice was talking about. However, when she dropped a sentence off like that it was hard not to be confused. It was Alice, though, and he would take her exactly as she came. Always. "It's nothing. Just forget I said anything," Alice said and Jasper raised an eyebrow to himself. He would have to take a risk, guessing at what she was getting at. "Were you wondering if I've ever... er... done it?" Jasper paused, considering whether he should just continue onward with that or not. "No, I haven't. Mainly because I've always had fear of loosing control."

Jasper sighed softly at her question. Clearly this was a subject he wasn't too comfortable discussing. "I'm not sure what to say about it Alice. She just... it's silly really," Jasper murmured quietly, adjusting so he could look at Alice just a tad bit more. She smiled at him, glad to see his face again. "Her reason is selfish to say the least. And self explanatory. Very out in the open. I'm surprised you didn't figure it out," Jasper said quietly. Alice frowned, now too busy to think up a reason. Hmm...what would a vampire hate a human for? After a moment of deliberation, realization dawned on her. "She hates me because I'm human," she stated slowly, as if it truly wasn't a surprise now. It all made sense, in a way.
"Were you wondering if I've ever... er... done it?" Jasper paused, and Alice nodded into his chest embarrassedly, waiting for him to go on. "No, I haven't. Mainly because I've always had fear of loosing control." Alice frowned, though she did feel a bit relieved to know that she wasn't the only one. How could he not have? Especially with the way he looks? "Not even as a human?" The words were out of her mouth before she could stop herself, though she clamped her lips together soon afterward. She couldn't help but be curious with him.

The mere thought of having to talk about why Rosalie didn't like Alice made Jasper uncomfortable. Especially since he was talking about it with Alice. The person Rosalie didn't care for. That made it all the more awkward and nerving to talk about. But hopefully Alice would be able to figure it out. Knowing her, she would. Then again, there were people who he had always had confidence in that would figure something out that was in plain site... who didn't. No, Alice had to.
"She hates me because I'm human," Alice stated slowly, though Jasper made no movement in return. Though in truth this was practically the reason, it wasn't exactly the answer he had been looking for. It wasn't exactly correct. Though it was for the most part, there were just a few small parts that were just a tad bit off. And those little parts made all the difference. If Alice didn't know them... well it was like she didn't even know why Rosalie hated her. "It's... hard to explain. Yes, mainly because you're human. Rosalie... well she doesn't actually want anything more than to be human again, as sad as it is. And then she's worried our secret will get out if our relationship ended badly and now that you know what we are it will annoy her even more. But don't worry about it, Alice. Just let me handle Rose."
"Not even as a human?" Alice seemed to blurt out, causing Jasper to chuckle delicately. He shook his head at this, a firm and solid 'no'. Not even as a human had he made love to a girl, though this was rather self explanatory in his eyes. He was twenty when he was changed in 1863, that made him, what, 18 when he joined? Somewhere around there. All that was known was that he was young and had something about him that others seemed to listen to. That was all that those who fought in the war with him really knew. "I was young when I joined the army, Alice. If it hadn't been for my height and build they would've known I wasn't old enough to join. Besides, there were multiple women in my human life that though I don't remember well, I do remember to be extremely annoying," he said with a low, even chuckle.

"It's... hard to explain. Yes, mainly because you're human. Rosalie... well she doesn't actually want anything more than to be human again, as sad as it is. And then she's worried our secret will get out if our relationship ended badly and now that you know what we are it will annoy her even more. But don't worry about it, Alice. Just let me handle Rose." Jasper said. I nodded, letting it all sink in. Of course she would miss being human, at least, if she was changed against her will. Alice knew that if she didn't have a choice she would probably feel the same way as Rosalie. And as she thought about it more, she could see now that Rosalie hadn't been rude to her in art because she was simply a mean person, merely because she wanted to protect her family, and, whether she would admit it or not, try to save a human girl's life. Alice couldn't help but feel partially greatful to the woman. "I can see why she'd be upset," Alice agreed, "She's afraid of her family's secret being exposed, and the fact that a human knows makes her worry that I won't be able to hold my tongue."
Jasper to chuckle delicately. He shook his head at this, a firm and solid 'no'. I suppressed a sigh of relief. Good. That was good to know. "I was young when I joined the army, Alice. If it hadn't been for my height and build they would've known I wasn't old enough to join. Besides, there were multiple women in my human life that though I don't remember well, I do remember to be extremely annoying," he said with a low, even chuckle. Alice smiled at this. She knew what he meant. Strictly speaking, she didn't much enjoy the company of other girls. At least, the extremely girly types. Sure, she was into fashion and clothes and stuff, but it was fun to her. Almost like playing dress-up when she was five. Oh, how she missed the happy, care-free days. "That's good," she nodded, then, after a moment, she laughed quietly, "Well now, at least, I don't have to worry about you thinking about some dead hussy while you're around me." She laughed lightly at this, to show him it was a joke, nothing to be taken seriously.
She loved moments like this, simply laying down next to Jasper, just holding him. It was a small moment, yes, but a moment that would be etched into her mind for years to come. Unconsciously, her index finger trailed along his chest, continuous patterns and circles tracing it. She couldn't help but wonder, couldn't help but ask, "Do you think we'd ever...you know, in the future....?" She wanted Jasper too badly not to ask. She hoped, at least, sometime in the future, they would be able to. Was it too much to ask?

Jasper let his eyes flick back and forth between the ceiling and Alice, looking for any response from Alice. Of course, she had only nodded in response. That wasn’t too encouraging, but maybe she was just thinking it all through. That was definitely something he would do, so it made sense. Hopefully she would say something in response, just let him know she understood what he was saying. That was all he needed really. Knowing a little more of what she was thinking would be nice, but he would never pry to find out what Alice was thinking. Her thoughts were her own and he would gladly respect her privacy. Even if she invaded his he wouldn’t invade hers. That was how he was, a Southern gentleman.
“I can see why she'd be upset,” Alice said, but Jasper remained silent. Was she going to say more, or was that all? “She's afraid of her family's secret being exposed, and the fact that a human knows makes her worry that I won't be able to hold my tongue.” Jasper let out a soft sigh of relief, glad Alice had added to that. So she did understand, that was a plus. At least he didn’t have to explain any farther. It wasn’t that easy for him to explain, so Alice understanding it easily and quickly made it a lot easier for him. If he would’ve had to explain it out he probably would have, but he was glad he didn’t have to. “That’s pretty much it. Rosalie isn’t a bad person, really. She’s very protective of the family and even though her actions can be selfish, at the same time they’re best for all of us. Of course, nobody outside of the family really knows her and she wouldn’t probably even let someone outside of the family get to know her. If that chance came up… well those chances are extremely slim so it probably won’t ever come up.”
“That's good,” Alice said, then after a moment of a rather comfortable silence, she laughed quietly. A smile was easily spread across Jasper’s lips. He loved that laugh, so much that it would kill him if he didn’t hear it for a long time. “Well now, at least, I don't have to worry about you thinking about some dead hussy while you're around me.” Jasper chuckled softly at this, smiling as Alice laughed along lightly. He knew that it was a joke, something he shouldn’t take seriously. And he didn’t. It was always nice to joke around and laugh with Alice. It was far better then fighting and arguing. He didn’t care for that in any way. “You wouldn’t have to worry about me thinking about another girl. Let alone a dead one. The only people I think about are my family and you. And occasionally what Charlie’s going to interrogate me about whenever I decide to come and visit you while he’s home,” he said, a smile spread across his lips on the last part.
The instant Alice began tracing patterns with her index finger on his chest, Jasper could feel his eyelids start to lower just a bit. He quickly squeezed his eyes shut, clearing his mind before opening them again, letting out a sigh. He didn’t want to lose control, and certainly didn’t need it. “Do you think we'd ever...you know, in the future....?” Alice asked, causing Jasper to look down at her, smiling softly. Using one arm, he pulled Alice closer to him, before rubbing his hand up and down her side in a gentle, continuous pattern. His other arm he kept at his side, just incase he needed to prop himself up to get a better look at Alice. “Maybe, Alice. Maybe. It will definitely be a while before anything like that happens. I’m not sure how long exactly, but a while,” Jasper said, his answer never going to change. He wasn’t in control of himself like he wanted to be, so it would have to wait till he got a little more control. But eventually, maybe, just maybe, they would. Of course, he wasn’t going to focus on this too much, he just wanted to focus on the present with Alice.

Alice heard Jasper let out a sigh of relief. Clearly she'd said something right. If that chance came up… well those chances are extremely slim so it probably won’t ever come up.” Alice was slightly confused with the last part of his little speach, though she felt she understood what he meant. Maybe this conversation they were having was difficult for Jasper to discuss with her. At least, it felt that way to her. She had to admit, she respected his patience, almost envied it. She couldn't imagine waiting as long as he did for half of her responses. Maybe it came with age, this patience he had. She smiled at him, "You really must care for them," she observed softly, reaching up to move a strand of hair from his face. She could sense it in his voice when he spoke of them. He must love them so much to speak so highly of them.
Jasper chuckled along with Alice softly, and she couldn't help but grin at the sound. It was so musical, so carefree. She couldn't imagine going one day without it; found it a miracle that she'd been able to live without it for seventeen years. She couldn't help but grin, "Well, it'll be the basic stuff. 'What are your intentions with my daughter'? 'You best be able to dodge a bullet if you bring her home any later than nine o'clock.'" she chuckled once more at this thought. She'd always done well when it came to mimicking Charlie's voice, mainly because it was so deep and blunt. "You are bullet proof, right?" I joked, "I don't think I could handle anything less than a bullet-proof boyfriend."
Alice smiled when she saw Jasper's eyelids lower, and couldn't help but feel a bit triumphant when he closed his eyes tight, as if concentrating on something. He really does have to work hard, doesn't he? she thought idly, smirking. He really did want her, enough to where simply her touch made him have to control himself. She couldn't help but feel a bit smug about it. Here sat this beautiful man, a man that could have anyone he could choose from, and he picked her, the new girl. The short, outspoken pixie. Jasper looked down at her, smiling softly. Using one arm, he pulled Alice closer to him, before rubbing his hand up and down her side in a gentle, continuous pattern. She sighed, closing her eyes, trying to control the urge to pounce. Now she knew how he must be feeling. “Maybe, Alice. Maybe. It will definitely be a while before anything like that happens. I’m not sure how long exactly, but a while,” he said, and she nodded in response, struggling to focus on his words and not the distracting feeling of his hand on her side. What was it he said again? "Um, yeah," she nodded again, "I understand that. I'm probably like a glass doll, huh? At least, that's how others react around me," she added as an afterthought. She looked fragile to everyone around her, like she was something that could break easily. How would she look compared to Jasper?
sorry it took so long. Stuck at home cleaning. =[

Jasper looked down at Alice when he sensed her confusion, confused himself as to why she was confused. He hadn't given her any reason to be confused, had he? Perhaps he had and just wasn't realizing it. Of course, when he quickly thought over what he said he didn't find a spot where he could've confused her. What was was confused about was a mystery to him, and he would have to ask her about it later. Or just ignore it altogether. One way or the other, he was not going to bother Alice about it right now. Not just yet.
"You really must care for them," Alice said before reaching up to remove another strand of hair from his face. He smiled before shutting his eyes for a moment. Yes, he did care for his adoptive family. Very very much. They had offered him a home, a place in their lives when he had shown up at their door, all but killed by the life he had before. If they wouldn't have welcomed him into their family as quickly and easily as they had, well he probably would've found some way to kill himself. He hated being a monster, but they had helped him get over this somewhat. "Very much," Jasper said in agreement, still smilng. There wasn't much he could say, it was all out in the open. Extremely obvious. Then again, maybe it wasn't.
"Well, it'll be the basic stuff. 'What are your intentions with my daughter'? 'You best be able to dodge a bullet if you bring her home any later than nine o'clock.'" Alice's voice was almost perfect when it came to mimicking Charlie. Of course, it didn't take much. It was rather low and blunt, something anybody could mimick. Alice of course had a soprano voice, so for her to be able to mimick a bass was amusing. "You are bullet proof, right? I don't think I could handle anything less than a bullet-proof boyfriend." Jasper smiled, playing along perfectly with her joking manner. "I am far more than just bullet-proof so you don't have to worry. I'm almost completely indestructable. Of course, we can be killed, otherwise there'd be an overpopulation of vampires wouldn't there?" Jasper said, before realizing the double meaning behind that sentence. An overpopulation of vampires from the Vampire Wars would be where the overpopulation came from. His time. Where he had grown up in this new life.
"Um, yeah. I understand that. I'm probably like a glass doll, huh? At least, that's how others react around me," Alice said and Jasper chuckled. Alice was far more than just a glass doll when compared to him. If she was to be considered a glass doll to him, then to everyone else she would be somewhere along the lines of bullet-proof. Not invincible, but not extremely fragile either. "Alice, if everyone else thinks of you as a glass doll when compared to themselves, compared to me you'd be like a perfect porcelain doll that would break if even a single ball of dust touched it. That's how dangerous I am," Jasper said, his voice rather serious at the end. Shaking his head, he sighed softly, not wanting to ruin the good mood.

"Very much," Jasper agreed with a smile. Alice felt a bit guilty for stealing the words from him; she loved hearing his voice. But at least he knew she understood. Jasper smiled, playing along perfectly with her joking manner. "I am far more than just bullet-proof so you don't have to worry. I'm almost completely indestructable. Of course, we can be killed, otherwise there'd be an overpopulation of vampires wouldn't there?" He seemed to regret saying the last part, but Alice didn't mind. At least he was open and honest with her. "See," I said, taking the focus away from the 'overpopulation of vampires' dilema, "If you would have told me before I figured out you were one, I would have solid proof that you're Bruce Wayne's twin," she joked.
Jasper chuckled at her comparison. "Alice, if everyone else thinks of you as a glass doll when compared to themselves, compared to me you'd be like a perfect porcelain doll that would break if even a single ball of dust touched it. That's how dangerous I am," his voice was rather serious at the end. Instead of feeling frightened or worried at this, Alice felt protected, safe. "But you wouldn't hurt me," she said proudly. Jasper may be dangerous, but he was safe around her. He was like a bullet-proof vest, a life-jacket. A protector. It just seemed like his nature.
sorry, tired. no muse.

Even though it was so easy to get lost in a moment with Alice, Jasper really had to start focusing on what he said. Even if it didn’t take much for his body to be on near auto pilot, saying something before it was fully processed, he had to start thinking over what he said. A little mistake like the overpopulation thing can really bother him, and then everything else goes wrong. That was the last thing he needed, his time with Alice to be made worse because he made himself mad for something that was said.
“See, if you would have told me before I figured out you were one, I would have solid proof that you’re Bruce Wayne’s twin,” Alice joked, causing Jasper to chuckle lowly. At least Alice wasn’t commenting on the overpopulation topic. That was going to be bugging him all day. “Great now I’m Bruce Wayne’s twin. What’s that make me, batboy?” Jasper asked playfully, hoping to keep the playful mood alive and thriving. The last thing he needed was an upset mood. A deep, low, unhappy mood.
“But you wouldn’t hurt me,” Alice said in a proud voice and Jasper smiled before shaking his head. He would never hurt Alice. Never in a thousand years. Of course, why did he have a gut feeling he would be regretting this promise to never hurt Alice later? He pushed his gut feeling aside for now, choosing to ignore it. That would be the best choice. “No, I would never hurt you Alice. Nor will I let anything ever hurt you. The chances of me hurting myself by some stupid stunt or something are more likely than the chances of me hurting you,” Jasper said with a soft smile, before moving his hand so it was playing with Alice’s short, spiky hair. Chuckling, he smiled at Alice, glad to have her.
